when comp is on and it shuts off by itself then has a cloud of smoke come from it, chances are its fried.

Yep yesterday morning i was checking my email etc and all the suddent my comp shut down. Next thing i smell something i look down and my comp has a wonderful white smoke coming out of the power supply.

replaced power supply last night (took out of hubbys comp) and well i guess that wasnt the only thing that blew. It wont turn on at all even with new psupply. Guess i get a new computer.

mental note smoke equals bad.......

nope no fans no nothing....

the light comes on the little green one. But nothing will come on. fan wont turn nada.

so fried? i dont see anything that looks burnt. but on the other hand i need new glasses. Power supply you can tell that it is fried, it had a part in it burnt to a crisp.

the comp is almost 5 years old (everything). I doubt the warranty is still valid.

not sure yet especially since xp pro is no longer available to buy. At least with vista i can downgrade and use the cd key from that. We will all eventually have to go to vista, i will see after i install a game or two.

You can still get it. Last week it was on sale. It goes on sale about every other month.
